
Biocon appoints Agnidipta Sarkar as Group CISO
Agnidipta Sarkar, a digital resilience leader has moved on from CMS IT services and joined Biocon as Group CISO. In this new role, he will be leading the cybersecurity and risk management domains at the biopharmaceutical company.
Biocon is an Indian biopharmaceutical company, founded by Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, headquartered in Bangalore. The company manufactures generic active pharmaceutical ingredients.
Since 1991, Sarkar has worked in and out of various parts of the organization, as a salesperson, as a consultant, as a CISO, as a Practice Leader, as a Risk Officer transforming cybersecurity, business continuity, data privacy, and risk management.
Previously, Sarkar has worked with global companies such as CMS IT services, DXC Technologies, HPE, HP Inc, and more. In his last assignment at CMS IT services as Director Cybersecurity, he led the transformation of cybersecurity hygiene and a few new-age digital security projects.
His pro-bono work includes participating on ISO mirror committees for security & privacy (SC27), business continuity (TC292), and risk management (TC262), leading the Cyber Resilience Think Tank for Business Continuity International in India, collaborating with other experts on the Cloud Control Matrix 4 development for CSA.
As a cybersecurity expert, Sarkar has also authored and launched “Defensible Cybersecurity” as the new approach to cybersecurity based on ISO27001 and its family of standards, Lockheed Martin’s Cyber-Kill-Chain, NIST cybersecurity framework, and DOE C2M2.
