
According to reports Reuters Apple, an American multinational technology company has restricted the use of ChatGPT and other external AI tools by its employees.
The reason is that Apple develops similar technology. The company has also banned Microsoft-owned GitHub’s Copilot, which is used by developers to automate code writing.
The company cautions as some unauthorized sensitive information is disclosed. Even, other companies like Samsung and Amazon have also restricted the use of ChatGPT by their employees.
Earlier, Samsung also banned its employees from using ChatGPT & other AI tools. The new policy has been communicated to staff at one of Samsung’s through a memo.
As per the report, The memo sent by Samsung read, “We ask that you diligently adhere to our security guidelines and failure to do so may result in a breach or compromise of company information resulting in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.”
Samsung’s memo to employees read, “Interest in generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT has been growing internally and externally. While this interest focuses on the usefulness and efficiency of these platforms, there are also growing concerns about security risks presented by generative AI.”
“HQ is reviewing security measures to create a secure environment for safely using generative AI to enhance employees’ productivity and efficiency. However, until these measures are prepared, we are temporarily restricting the use of generative AI,” the memo said.
Apart from this, Akash Nigam, the founder of Genies asked its employees to use the Artificial intelligence-powered chatbot ChatGPT to save time and improve efficiency.
Akash Nigam is spending $2,400 around Rs 1.63 lakh monthly on ChatGPT Plus accounts for all of his 120 employees. Additionally, IBM is planning to freeze the hiring for certain positions. The company expects that nearly 7,800 jobs could be replaced by artificial intelligence (AI).
CEO Arvind Krishna has specified that hiring specifically in back-office functions such as human resources will be suspended or slowed.
The company aspects that 30% of non-customer-facing roles could be replaced by AI and automation in five years.
