Yokohama in India has taken deliberate steps to empower women and create a conducive environment for their success in manufacturing operations.

Yokohama India proudly declares that the Yokohama group the achievement of over 1000 women employed on the shop floors across its factories in India.

By surpassing the milestone of 1000 women working on its shop floors in India, Yokohama Group demonstrates its unwavering dedication to fostering gender diversity and inclusivity within its workforce.

Notably, the company operates four factories in India, with one dedicated to Passenger Car Tires and three focused on manufacturing Off-highway tires.

Speaking of this achievement, Anil Gupta, Vice Chairman, Yokohama India said, “As we celebrate this momentous occasion, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a culture of diversity, inclusion, and opportunity for all employees.”

“With 1000 women standing strong on the factory shop floors, we hope they inspire others like them to tread the unbeaten path. Our first women recruitment drive was for the commercial Truck Bus Radial (TBR) Unit at our Dahej plant in 2018”, Anil Gupta added. 

Anil Gupta further said, “We were the pioneers in having a TBR Unit run exclusively by women. From operating machinery to quality control, these skilled women have demonstrated their expertise, resilience, and dedication to excellence.”

Contrary to the common notion that women from metropolitan cities are the ones venturing into unconventional professions, it is noteworthy that the over 1000 women employed in Yokohama’s factories hail from small towns such as Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Punjab, and more.

These women hold diverse roles within the company, spanning across functions like production, quality control, and logistics. They excel as machine operators, team leaders, technicians, supervisors, and in various other positions.

This is achieved through focused recruitment initiatives, comprehensive training programs, and strong support systems.
