Many companies have been laying employees. Most Tech Firms have fired employees due to inflation, moonlighting, and many more.
Rajesh Padmanabhan, Chief Executive Officer of Talavvy Business Catalysts shared his view in a LinkedIn post, “Over 300,000 jobs lost in the last 2 months. Some more big ones queuing up. This will soon become Industry BAU may be the conclusion.”
“Lifetime employments are over and out. Today’s world is not about hiring to retire but it is recruiting to value. It’s all about capabilities put out for value. Is #moonlighting ( without conflict of interest) still a taboo for recognition and discussion with Industry Captains? Only 18000 roughly out of the 300,000 had a vocational / income alternative. Rest are on the streets because they were conditioned to one source of livelihood and stand exposed”, he added.
“It’s a wake-up call to all Progressive Leaders to hear the noise and contribute to shape #moonlighting and not suppress it unilaterally. Companies may not even blink once during employee exits and will say it is a business reality. All those tall promises of a great future during hiring will stand exposed and haunt the believers of those assurances”, he further said.
“How many companies say ‘It’s our culture to not lay off?’ Everyone talks of culture but not many stand up during the act of downsizing. Not many even in board rooms at times. Talent Churn could well become a business reality from here on and accepting this plus modelling this for the future will make it fair for employers and employees”, he further added.
“Adopting customized talent architectures will be the call of tomorrow. There is no one single approach that fits all. Make one stride towards being truly empathetic and be genuine and truthful. Answers will come. Having helped 3 clients who were very open to this, I am elated that there are soulful leaders who are thinking ahead and blending this aspect into their business model and culture both are a viable answer”, Rajesh Padmanabhan added.
