An artificial intelligence research organization, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has hinted at the upcoming GPT-5, the next iteration of ChatGPT.

OpenAI, which began in November 2022, has continuously evolved its AI models, introducing various versions of ChatGPT over the years.

The latest version, GPT-4, demonstrates significant advancements in language processing and AI capabilities. With each iteration, OpenAI aims to improve the performance, accuracy, and usability of its models.

According to the TOI, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said, “We don’t know yet. We are optimistic, but we still have a lot of work to do on it. I expect it (GPT-5) to be a significant leap forward.”

“A lot of the things that GPT-4 gets wrong, you know, can’t do much in the way of reasoning, sometimes just sort of reasoning, sometimes just sort of totally goes off the rails and makes a dumb mistake, like even a six-year-old would never make”, he added.

Recently in June, Apple is integrating ChatGPT into experiences within iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, allowing users to access ChatGPT’s capabilities—including image and document understanding—without needing to jump between tools.

Siri can also tap into ChatGPT’s intelligence when helpful. Apple users are asked before any questions are sent to ChatGPT, along with any documents or photos, and Siri then presents the answer directly.

Additionally, ChatGPT will be available in Apple’s systemwide Writing Tools, to help users generate content for anything they are writing about. Users can also tap into ChatGPT image tools to generate images in a wide variety of styles to complement what they are writing.

ChatGPT within Siri and Writing Tools—requests are not stored by OpenAI, and users’ IP addresses are obscured. Users can also choose to connect their ChatGPT account, which means their data preferences will apply under ChatGPT’s policies.

The ChatGPT integration, powered by GPT-4o, will come to iOS, iPadOS, and macOS later this year. Users can access it for free without creating an account, and ChatGPT subscribers can connect their accounts and access paid features right from these experiences.
