Despite Covid-19, IT major Infosys says that it will go to college campuses for the hiring of freshers

According to a Business Standard report, Infosys did not reveal the numbers of freshers it will offer jobs this year, but it may be around the same of last financial year. The company had made 18,000 job offers in the last financial year.

  • Infosys to do campus hirings this fiscal and will soon initiate discussions with colleges to start the process from September 2020.
  • Infosys will honour all the offers given last year, and make the announcement in due course.
  • The company has onboarded most of the lateral hires to whom they have given offers remotely.
  • The company had made 18,000 job offers in the last financial year.

Krish Shankar – Group Head- Human Resources, said, “We will soon talk to colleges for freshers who will join next year. We have to talk to them when they will be ready for the campus programs and there will be newer processes like virtual onboarding,”

“We have onboarded most of the lateral hires to whom we have given offers remotely. On-boarding of freshers from campus, who were given job offers last year, we will honour all those offers and make the announcement in due course,” Krish said.

While there is no focus on employee optimization at offshore locations, Infosys will continue its localization drive in the US and European geographies, he said.

“Localisation will continue as there is a demand for resources from clients. Some of it may change due to remote working but it will continue. So, as long as demand is there, we need local talent with the right skill,” Krish said.

According to Nasscom, the industry hired 205,000 new employees in FY20 but India’s giant IT services companies are expected to see a significant slowdown in growth during this financial year as they deal with pricing pressures, revenue loss due to lockdown in India and globally.
