Yesterday, Infosys, the second-largest IT services firm in India asked employees to work from home, follow health advisories, take the Covid-19 vaccine if eligible, and stay safe from the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

UB Pravin Rao, COO of Infosys sent an email to employees titled “Stay Safe from the Covid-19 Second Wave” he wrote that lots of new COVID-19 cases being reported daily, so “I write today to request you all put your health and that of your family members above everything else. Do not leave your homes without wearing a protective mask, practice social distancing, and avoid crowds and closed spaces… We request you not to venture out unless it’s an emergency.”

According to the Business Standard report, Rao further asked employees to work from home unless they were part of the business continuity plan (BCP) teams, across locations. “If you are required to come to the office to meet critical requirements, make sure that all the safety measures have been followed. In order to ensure safety, all those who need to work from office as part of BCP are encouraged to stay in Employee Care Centres to avoid the daily commute and avoid exposure.”

He also advised all employees to take vaccine if eligible.

Infosys has made arrangements for COVID-19 vaccination in its campuses and established tie-ups with over 130 hospitals across the country for employees and their families.

Richard Lobo, EVP & Head HR, Infosys said in a statement, “We welcome the decision from the government to open up vaccination for all adults in India. We will work with our partners to accelerate our vaccination program to cover our employee population as early as possible.” 

India’s other IT major companies; TCS, Wipro, and HCL Technologies are also rolling out vaccination drives for all employees and their families.
