
Yamaha Motor India to layoff 200 employees as the company battles with low production at its plants
Yamaha Motor India Group has planned to layoff about 200 employees across various divisions like production, procurement, sales, and marketing.
According to the ETAuto report, Yamaha Motor is restructuring the production process at the Surajpur facility, Greater Noida as the company battles with low production at its plants. The company has also offered transfer options to a few top-performing employees at the Surajpur plant to the Chennai plant.
Till now, almost 80 employees have been asked to leave the company and it is further planning to retrench 120 more in the coming months. However, We as media couldn’t verify this number independently. Beyond this company is also giving pink slips in the sales and marketing department.
Automobile dealers’ body FADA fears that the coronavirus pandemic could result in job losses in dealerships which could be worse than what was experienced last year when over two lakh jobs were lost due to a prolonged slowdown in the automobile industry.
Last Year between May and July, the automobiles dealerships across the country shed around 2 lakh jobs to tide over the impact of an unprecedented sales slump.
In the April-June period, the Japanese two-wheeler, Yamaha Motor India produced 38,013 units seeing a decline of 84.78% when compared to the same period last year.
