According to various media reports, The IT major, Google’s advancement in artificial intelligence may result in restructuring the ad sales department, which may impact employees from the ad sales unit at Google.

The advancement and introduction of new AI-based tools will automatically suggest and create new ads that perform well for customers.

As a result, the company plans to automate certain jobs in the ad sales and customer service department. Google ad sales unit consists of 30,000 people and AI advancement has risked the jobs of the employees.

Earlier in January Google announced to reduce the workforce by approximately 12,000 roles. The layoffs are nearly 6% of the total workforce.

During the January Layoffs, Google CEO Sundar Pichai said, “A difficult decision to set us up for the future.”

Other Potential Statements on AI

Recently, Paytm sacked over 1000 employees amid cost-cutting measures.

“We are transforming our operations with AI-powered automation, eliminating repetitive tasks and roles to drive efficiency across growth and costs, resulting in a slight reduction in our workforce within operations and marketing”, the spokesperson said.

Earlier this year, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna specified that hiring specifically in back-office functions such as human resources will be suspended or slowed.

The company aspects that 30% of non-customer-facing roles could be replaced by AI and automation in five years.

The CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman said AI has the potential to drastically change society but also has real dangers.

Sam Altman also believes that AI chatbots could “eliminate a lot of current jobs” but also have the potential to be “the greatest technology humanity has yet developed” to improve our lives.
