Former Infosys CEO Vishay Sikka has been nominated to the board of Oracle Corp. Sikka, who had recently launched Artificial Intelligence startup Vianai Systems, is a world-renowned authority in the field of artificial intelligence and was a top executive at SAP.
Announcing Sikka’s nomination to the prestigious board, Oracle CTO Larry Ellison said: “Vishal is one the world’s leading experts in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.” He added that Sikka’s skills and experience will help provide “strategic vision” to steer Oracle in the right direction.
“He is a most welcome addition to the Oracle Board,” Ellison stated.
Oracle CEO Safra Catz added that Sikka understands how Oracle’s Gen2 Cloud Infrastructure, Autonomous Database, and Application can come together to enable the tech giant’s customers to “drive business value and adapt to change.”
Commenting on his appointment, Sikka said, “Today, Oracle is the only one of the big four cloud companies that offers both Enterprise Application Suites and Secure Infrastructure technologies in a single unified cloud. Oracle’s unique position in both applications and infrastructure paves the way for enormous innovation and growth in the times ahead,” he said.
