HR cuts employee salary after being stuck in company's elevator
The reddit post further said, "When I was punching my In time the HR said you were late so you will be marked as absent and your salary will also deduct, I told them if you are marking me absent so I will take leave and go home.

The salary deduction can be different but recently a Reddit user shared a post saying that his salary was deducted by the HR after being stuck in company’s elevator.

The post recently shared on Reddit said, “My office is on 7th floor and we need elevator to go up and down and from past few weeks there are some problems with elevator. It stops randomly and doors won’t open, we already notified the concerned department and they were neglecting the service and maintenance of the Lift.”

“So yesterday I was in the elevator and it stops working out of the blue and electricity also goes off. I was not able to contact maintenance department or my office, I tried to reach them on call and after several attempts I was able to inform the HR about my situation and they send maintenance guy. After 3 hours they got me out of the elevator”, the post added.

The reddit post further said, “When I was punching my In time the HR said you were late so you will be marked as absent and your salary will also deduct, I told them if you are marking me absent so I will take leave and go home, but my AM told me you have to work as they were short on staff, so I told them it’s not my fault if you allows me to punch In and correct the In time I will work or otherwise I am taking day off and they started to threatening me about appraisal and my work ethic how I was making excuses and do not put efforts and lacks motivation.”

“So I recorded the elevator accident and documented the conversation between HR, AM and Me word to word and thinking I should send grievance report to higher level”, the post concluded.

The post is being shared and has received nearly 500 upvotes and several comments.

One user said, “If the company rules specify that you have to be marked as on leave – they cannot compel you to work while on leave. If they do – then they will need to compensate you with another day off. If you like the place you work – then try and get them to close this amicably. Reach out to a senior manager to put in a word.”

“Seems like a toxic workplace. Find a new job if possible. Remember corporate is not your friend”, other user wrote.
