According to ET reports, Techies with digital skills will be the most sought-after professionals in 2020. There are currently 60,000-odd vacancies for new-age technologies like machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data analytics.
“Recruiters say candidates can expect fat hikes of 35-60% upon switching jobs, with the number going up to 100% for those with data science and ML chops. Demand for people with training in artificial intelligence, machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, blockchain, etc. are seen doubling in 2020”
Who’s hiring? Everyone from industry leaders like Accenture, IBM, and NVIDIA to well-funded startups.
The openings are across- entry, mid and senior-levels with annual remuneration ranging from Rs 3 lakh to over Rs 1crore. There are over 520 active job openings in AI, data science, AWS, analytics with salaries ranging Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 1 crore and above. Entry-level talent with these skillsets also hs about 4,500 openings.
Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, is increasing the hiring of professionals in digital, robotics, AI, ML, etc. by 40% in India in 2020. Last year, the company hired around 2,000 professionals in related areas. “The hiring in new tech is to cater to the needs of our analytic hub based out of India… This is what our customers are demanding and is in response to the growing business needs,” said Schneider Electric India HR director Runita Verma.
Professional networking platform LinkedIn unveiled the top 15 emerging jobs in 2020 and Blockchain Developer, Artificial Intelligence Specialist and Robotic Process Automation Consultant are among the list for the year ahead.
And according to the LinkedIn report, India ranks among the top three countries to lead the world in AI skills with Robotic Process Automation, Compliance and integration as the fastest-growing skills.
“Customers are increasingly turning to partners for digital solutions,” said Cognizant vice president and global head of talent acquisition Suresh Bethavandu, adding that the focus is on hiring new talent in digital areas.
Startups and e-commerce companies are also looking to add people in new tech for better customer experience. Online grocer BigBasket will be looking for professionals with an understanding of statistical/operations research/machine learning techniques and data infrastructure, said TanujaTewari, VP, HR.
