
Tata Electronics appointed Randhir Thakur as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director on April 18. He is the former President of Intel Foundry Services.
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran said, “The roadmap for Tata Electronics is exciting and Thakur’s in-depth knowledge and multi-functional experience will bode well for the company.”
“I am confident that under his leadership, Tata Electronics will lead India to take its rightful position in the global semiconductor and precision manufacturing industry,” N Chandrasekaran added.
“Thakur has made significant contributions to the development of advanced semiconductor technologies. He has deep expertise in ecosystem leadership, process technology equipment, driving mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures, product development while collaborating closely with ecosystem partners and customers”, the statement said.
He brings 40 years of experience as a hands-on innovator and business leader with expertise in global manufacturing, research and development, and profitable P&L management.
Prior to Tata Electronics, he was working with Intel. He joined Intel as corporate vice president of Global Supply Management, expanding his role to chief supply chain officer in 2020. His deep expertise in global semiconductor manufacturing, ecosystem leadership, process technology equipment, and customer orientation is critical to the success of Intel Foundry Services.
In 2021, he was the senior vice president and the president of Intel Foundry Services. Under Thakur’s leadership, Intel Foundry Services was leading the development and growth of Intel’s new foundry business, a significant element of Intel’s IDM 2.0 strategy.
He holds his Ph.D., in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and completed his Bachelor’s degree, in Electronics and Telecom from the National Institute of Technology Kurukshetra.
