
The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi Government has hiked the minimum wages in order to give relief to people from inflation.
As reports of the Live Mint, The hike in the monthly wages of unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled workers. The new rates for the hike in minimum monthly wages are applicable from October 1.
What is Minimum Wage?
Minimum wages have been defined as āthe minimum amount of remuneration that an employer is required to pay wage earners for the work performed during a given period, which cannot be reduced by collective agreement or an individual contractā
According to the Delhi government, The new rates of minimum wages are:
- The monthly wage of skilled workers increased from ā¹ 20,903 to ā¹ 21,215 by ā¹312
- The monthly salary of semi-skilled workers increased from ā¹ 18,993 to ā¹ 19,279 by ā¹ 286
- ā¹ 260 increased in the monthly wages of unskilled labourers from ā¹ 17,234 to ā¹ 17,494.
āIn order to provide relief to the Labourers and employees in Delhi who are facing the brunt of inflation, Labour Minister Shri Raaj Kumar Anand issued an order to increase the monthly wages of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled workers of Delhi,” said a Delhi government statement.
In the statement, Labour Minister Raaj Kumar Anand said, āThis decision of the Delhi government will benefit unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and other workers in all scheduled employment categories.”
“People working on minimum wages in the unorganised sector should also benefit from dearness allowance, which is usually given to state and central government employees,ā he added.
