Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor (LG) Manoj Sinha has said to the protesting Kashmiri Pandit that the employees posting in the Kashmir Valley to return to work.
Additionally, a warning has been given to them that they would not be paid salaries for “sitting at home”. The protests began after Rahul Bhat, a Kashmiri Pandit, was shot dead by suspected militants in his office in the Chadoora area of Budgam district on May 12.
Additionally, they have been protesting in Jammu for the last six months and they have been demanding relocation to safer places outside the Valley.
On Wednesday, December 21, lieutenant governor (LG) Manoj Sinha also informed that all their demands had already been met. Also, there was no question of relocating them to Jammu.
Manoj Sinha said, “We have cleared their (protesting employees’) salaries till August 31 but it cannot be done that they will be paid their salaries by sitting at their homes.”
“This is a loud and clear message to them and they should listen and understand it,” LG Manoj Sinha added.
Kashmiri Pandits had been protesting for better security and relocation outside Jammu and Kashmir. However, Manoj Sinha said their security is the priority of the administration.
Manoj Sinha has also informed that they should also keep in mind that they are Kashmir division employees and cannot be transferred to Jammu.
“Like a district cadre employee of Poonch cannot come to Jammu, those of Kashmir division too, cannot be posted here [Jammu]. Everyone should understand this”, Manoj Sinha added.
