Alstom to hire 7,500 talents worldwide in 2022
The group has announced on Friday that it plans to hire 7,500 people worldwide this year to meet rising demand and record orders totalling 77.8 billion euros at the end of last year.

Alstom, the leader in smart, sustainable mobility, needs to respond to the growing demand for greener, more modern train, metro, and tram fleets with optimised capacity throughout the world.

The group has announced on Friday that it plans to hire 7,500 people worldwide this year to meet rising demand and record orders totalling 77.8 billion euros at the end of last year.

Alstom offers the possibility of starting a career with a wide range of opportunities for moving between jobs and geographical mobility to suit any aspiration.

The Group’s needs for talent by region are; Europe: 3,900 positions, Asia-Pacific: 1,700 positions; Americas: 1,500 positions and Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia: 400 positions.

The firm hopes to hire 6,000 engineers and managers as well as 1,500 workers and technicians, according to the firm that has 72,000 salaried staff around the world.

Anne-Sophie Chauveau-Galas, Alstom’s director of human resources, said, “These hires are for projects relating to rolling stock, signalling and services. Globally, engineering accounts for half of the permanent position openings.”

“The company doubled in size a year ago (with the purchase of the Canadian Bombardier Transport), we are present in 70 countries and our order sheet is quite big,” she said.

“So we have needs everywhere in the world to implement contracts,” she added.

Alstom announced earlier this month a 1.8-billion-euro ($2-billion) deal to supply up to 200 regional trains to Norway.

The framework contract with public rail company Norske Tog includes an initial firm order of 30 trains worth 380 million euros, Alstom said.

Alstom has received the Top Employer 2022 certification in Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America, with certificates in 14 countries.

This is the third consecutive year Alstom has received the distinction in Europe, and the second year for the two other markets referenced. With AFP Inputs
