Why are women rejecting WFO even TCS women attrition is high than men?
Additionally, to control the women attrition not the companies but the government should take several steps to control while creating employment in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.

Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS) has recently said women attrition was higher than that of men likely due to the return-to-office policy.

The company has employee-led policies and women constitute 35 percent of the workforce of over 6,00,000. TCS has always focused on women’s employment. The situation is alarming post-Covid.

Milind Lakkad, Chief Human Resources Officer at TCS said “Historically, the attrition among women employees — who constitute over 35 percent of our workforce of over 600,000 — has been lower or similar to that of men.”

“..I would think working from home during the pandemic reset the domestic arrangements for some women, keeping them from returning to office even after everything normalized,” he said.

“This speaks well of the quality of the women candidates in our leadership pool as well as the supportive attitudes of our business leaders in promoting diversity,” he added.

The resignations of women employees in TCS are happening as the company asks them to do work from the office. To briefly explain why women are now denying to Work from the office:-

  • While working from the offices the employees are unable to save money for uncertainties.
  • Additionally, the employees have to spend heavily on traveling expenses and on children’s education in metro cities.
  • The cost of living increased by double in the office location.
  • Moreover, the employees are unable to bring their entire family to an office location.
  • Employees feel alone when they don’t have family in the metro cities and are unable to spend their time with their friends, family, and parents. Even while working from the office the employees are unable to take care of their parents.
  • Employee traveling time is a complete waste of time (Which they can use somewhere).
  • Employees have to take various debts to bear their daily expenses.
  • Housing rents or ownership is increasing day by day.

The question also arises to control the situation, will Companies Reach out to Employees, and will a lot of Employees turn into Solopreneurs & Entrepreneurs?

Additionally, to control the women attrition, not the companies but the government should take several steps by creating employment in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
