
In a work-from-home scam in Karnataka, woman Saritha S has lost Rs 8.2 lakh in the alleged fraud scheme. She is a resident of Sector 43.
In this work-from-home opportunity, the woman was asked to subscribe to a YouTube channel. She received a WhatsApp message about an opportunity that was providing the option to work from home and earn money.
According to an FIR filed by Saritha S accused under sections 419 (cheating by impersonation) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Cybercrime Unit in Manesar Police Station. Additionally, the Police are investigating the case.
What is the case all About?
Saritha S initial proposal from Yusfat who pretend to be assistant manager, HR of Aidnet global marketing company. The proposal was to only subscribe to a YouTube channel and get ₹ 50 per subscription.
Saritha S has informed that she had subscribed to two channels and got a call from the receptionist Laila. Laila has internally asked to share her Telegram ID.
Post this she subscribed to some other channels and paid ₹ 150. Explaining the event Saritha S was further added to a Telegram group having 180 members. All these people were asked to perform some task. Laila claimed that based on these tasks they were aligned to earn profits.
How She Was Cheated?
The same was informed to Saritha that she will earn a profit for completing the assigned tasks. However, Saritha was allegedly duped at Rs 8.20 lakh through these tasks. Additionally, she was unable to earn any profit.
