5G to Create New Jobs Across Industry Verticals in 2023
It is expected that there will be a 15-20% rise in demand for technology talent in the telecom and allied sectors. Additionally, the demand is going to go up by a record 25-30% in this new year.

It is expected that 5G will be creating new jobs across industry verticals in 2023. As many companies have already announced the launch of 5G.

It is expected that there will be a 15-20% rise in demand for technology talent in the telecom and allied sectors. Additionally, the demand is going to go up by a record 25-30% in this new year.

The jobs will be created in the following categories:-

  • The jobs expected to be created in the field are data analytics, data science, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
  • As the non-telecom sector companies in the retail and auto industry are expected to adopt 5G rapidly. Therefore, it will also create job opportunities.
  • There will be a higher demand for candidates in the mid-level category (with 4-8 years of experience).
  • There are a lot of emerging opportunities in Video content, Network Upgradation & Migration, Private 5G for Enterprises, IoT/IIoT, Mobility, Network Infrastructure, and Network Security.

The year 2022 already witnessed about 20 per cent growth in the demand for talent possessing knowledge of telecom technology, as compared to the previous year.

The companies are also up-skilling employees and training them for effectiveness and efficiency in engaging with the new technologies and demands that 5G would bring. 

Recently, Ericsson announced it is scaling up its production capacity and operations with its partner Jabil in Pune to meet the needs of 5G network deployments in India.

The company also announced the production ramp-up and it will expand operations with high-technology production and will also generate employment for around 2,000 people in Pune, India. 

To increase flexibility and speed in bringing products into the market, Ericsson India is also establishing a technology center.

With the increasing availability and affordability of 5G smartphones, along with rapid adoption of smartphones in urban and rural areas, 5G subscriptions in the India region are expected to rapidly increase to reach around 690 million by the end of 2028, according to the Ericsson Mobility Report, November 2022 edition.
