
Edtech major Vedantu has laid off another 385 employees. This is nearly 11.6 percent of the company workforce.
The Job cuts will affect the workforce from sales, HR, and content teams. This is the fourth round of layoffs undertaken by the edtech unicorn in 2022.
Vedantu’s co-founders and a few members of the leadership team have also taken a 50 percent pay cut. The company had around 3,300 employees, after this third round of lay-offs this year.
Vedantu has sacked more than 1,100 employees this year. After the latest round of layoffs, the edtech has about 3,300 employees. Another Ed-tech firm, Unacademy has slashed 350 employees which is 10 percent of its workforce due to harsh economic conditions.
Recently, FrontRow, a learning platform for non-academic skills has laid off 30 employees nearly 75 percent of its workforce. Earlier, Byju’s said that the company was laying off nearly 5 percent of the workforce, or 2,500 employees.
Ed-tech startups FrontRow, Lido, and Frontrow among others have cumulatively retrenched thousands of employees this year. In June, WhiteHat Jr and Toppr combined laid off about 500 employees
